Welcome

Welcome to Drop Beats Not Bombs, the online presence for the bi-yearly anti war event that donates 100% of its profits to the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and Campaign Against Arms Trade.

Drop Beats Not Bombs began life as a discussion between a group of friends drinking and playing pool in a small bar on a cold wintry November night in Birmingham, way back in 2002. The discussion was all about the build-up to the US invasion of Iraq and the terrible consequences of such action.

A casual idea was tossed into the conversation. An idea that perhaps organising a small protest night built around music might be something worthwhile to do. The touch paper had been lit.

5 months later and the first Drop Beats Not Bombs event was set to take place. This was going to be a one-off event and attendance was anticipated to be around 600 people. By the end of the night over 2,000 people had come through the doors and became part of something incredible. The atmosphere was electric. The energy was palpable. The sentiment was that this should not be left behind once the venue had emptied and the duvets had been pulled around the aching limbs. Something special had been born out of the hearts and minds of all those that were there.

And as the years have slowly trundled by, the ethos of Drop Beats Not Bombs has remained true. The need for such an experience is as needed today as it was then. Long live Drop Beats Not Bombs
